I’ve been really bad penning down some thoughts regarding the 2019 Virgin London Marathon. With 28 days left, now is a good a time as any.
It feels like yesterday since I received the phone call to inform me that I had received an entry into the prestigious race. How time flies! I have watched the days count down to this point and here we stand, four weeks away. What a ride it has been!
In the beginning of the year I bought a pair of Adidas Solar Glide ST shoes and later in the ride I found myself the proud owner of a pair of Ultraboost 19s. As I write this today I am 200km and 150km in on these pairs, respectively. All I can say is Adi Dassler, the father of Adidas, was an absolute genius.
My goal was to raise R10k for the South African Depression and Anxiety Group. As I sit here, I am closer to raise double that. I am still surprised with the way my choice of charity has resonated with everyone. Depression is real and it is a silent killer.
For now, I must say thanks to everyone so far. I will try and be better with writing in the build up, so watch this space. My last request, if you haven’t donated so far please do. Every cent helps.
